After 'Pathaan', This Hollywood Movie Brings Back Housefull Signs In Kashmir Valley
This Hollywood movie is the biggest release in Kashmir after Shah Rukh Khan's 'Pathaan'.
Christopher Nolan's 'Oppenheimer' is one of the most awaited movies worldwide of 2023, and the film finally released in theatres on Friday (July 21). As per BookMyShow, the Cillian Murphy-starrer has sold more than 3 lakh tickets in sales on the platform since advance booking for the new Hollywood movie went live three weeks ago. Now in the latest entertainment news, it has emerged that 'Oppenheimer' is housefull in Kashmir Valley as well.
'Oppenheimer' is the biggest release in Kashmir after Shah Rukh Khan's 'Pathaan'. The only theatre in the region is now reporting sold out status for 'Oppenheimer' for this weekend.
“When we reopened the theatre after 33 years, we were not expecting much. However, when Pathaan released, it ran to full houses. But after Pathaan, to see the reaction of people for Oppenheimer, is quite a surprise. It’s good to see that people are open to watching a good movie like the Cillian Murphy-starrer," Vijay Dhar, who runs Kashmir’s lone cinema theatre in association with Inox, told The Indian Express.
“There are three screens in the multiplex with a 535 capacity. Oppenheimer is fully booked for tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday. The ticket range is between Rs 1000 and Rs 300. We are running four shows of Oppenheimer out of which one is in Hindi," he added.
Speaking further, he said: "It is a very important event because it is not Pathaan, it is not Shan Rukh Khan or Salman Khan, it is Oppenheimer, a movie which I don’t even know how people got to know about in the first place… maybe through social media. One would expect Bollywood films to do well here, but for a Hollywood film to do so well in Kashmir is really a precursor to change here."
Oppenheimer, which is going to have a box office clash with Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling’s ‘Barbie’, is based on the Pulitzer Prize–winning biography ‘American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer’.
The Christopher Nolan directorial revolves around J. Robert Oppenheimer (Murphy), who famously led the Manhattan Project — the effort to create an atomic bomb during World War II.
The new Hollywood movie has a star-studded cast, including Murphy, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, Rami Malek, Kenneth Branagh, Gary Oldman, Robert Downey Jr, Benny Safdie, Josh Hartnett, and Michael Angarano among others.
