Alec Baldwin-Starrer 'Rust' Resumes Filming After On-Set Shooting Episode
Alec Baldwin-starrer 'Rust' has resumed filming after an on-set shooting episode.
Alec Baldwin-starrer 'Rust' has resumed filming months after the fatal on-set shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchin. As per BBC, the principal photography is starting up again at a new location in Montana. "It will bar any use of working weapons and any form of ammunition. Live ammunition is - and always was - prohibited on set," the BBC quoted Melina Spadone, the lawyer for Rust Movie Productions, as saying.
Bianca Cline will be taking Hutchins' place as the cinematographer. Joel Souza, who was injured during the shooting in New Mexico, will be returning as the director.
Hutchins' husband Matthew will be serving as an executive producer. For the unversed, Alec Baldwin will also be serving as the producer for this film, alongside acting.
In October 2021, Alec Baldwin was rehearsing a scene on the set at a ranch in Santa Fe, when the prop gun he was folding fired, and this resulted in the death of Ukrainian-born cinematographer.
Then, charges of involuntary manslaughter were brought against him and the film's armourer Hannah Gutierrez Reed. However, lawyers of both denied any wrongdoing and said that they intend to fight these charges in court.
As per Robert Shilling, a special investigator for the district attorney's office, Baldwin was "distracted" while talking to family members on his mobile phone during the training he was taking on how to operate the fire gun.
Shilling also stated that if Baldwin had performed mandatory safety checks with armourer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed and not pointed the gun at Hutchins, the tragedy would not have taken place.
"This reckless deviation from known standards and practice and protocol directly caused the fatal shooting. Baldwin knew the first rule of gun safety is never point a gun at someone you don't intend on shooting," stated the official statement of Shilling.
Alec Baldwin had previously denied the responsibility for the shooting. He had argued that he did not pull the trigger on the gun and it had just gone off.
However, later, photos and videos from the sets showed Baldwin practising drawing and firing the gun with his finger inside the trigger guard and on the trigger multiple times, the prosecutors said.
