As of now, it is not known when 'Monkey Man' will be releasing in India. As per several reports, the film has not received a censor certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

The scheduled release date in India is April 19, 2024, however, as per several reports, the latest Hollywood film is unlikely to be released on this date in the country.

The reports also state that the movie might witness a lot of cuts by the CBFC.

Earlier, speaking at SXSW, Dev Patel had explained how Monkey Man is about faith and chronicles “what’s going on in India.”

“It’s really a revenge film about faith. How faith can be a beautiful teacher for the uneducated. For a kid that grew up in a forest, a mother can inspire the child with stories, iconography, capture his imagination, but at the same time faith can be weaponised and monetised," he had said, as per Indian Express.

"Personally, for me, I hope I don’t get in trouble for this, for me Hinduism is a beautiful philosophy, and what’s going on in India, we touch on all of these things and try and give a voice to the voiceless," he added.

Made on a reported budget of USD 10 million, 'Monkey Man' has so far made USD 16.1 million at the worldwide box office.
