Greta Gerwig's 'Barbie' starring Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling and Simu Liu, released in theatres on July 21, 2023, and the movie became one of the highest-grossing movies of the year. The award season is upon us, and the Hollywood film is bagging nominations left, right and centre. In the latest entertainment news, Greta Gerwig's billion-dollar sensation 'Barbie' got 18 nods and it is leading the Critics Choice Awards nominations for films.
For the unversed, this is the most number of nominations that any film has received in the organisation’s 29 years, surpassing 'Everything Everywhere All at Once' and 'The Shape of Water' which received 14 nods during their respective years.
Christopher Nolan's 'Oppenheimer' and Yorgos Lanthimos’ 'Poor Things' received 13 nominations each for the upcoming Critics Choice Awards.
Critics Choice Awards will be held on January 14 with Chelsea Handler returning as host.
