Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, has issued an apology for “any confusion” that might have been created by a mother’s day picture with her three kids, reportedly taken by her husband Prince William. The said photo was published by the Kensington Palace staff on March 10. Soon, though, social media was abuzz that the picture was fake. Following the picture being taken down by big publications and ‘The Prince and Princess Of Wales’ Twitter handle itself, Kate Middleton on Tuesday addressed the issue.

“Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. C,” the statement read on Twitter.

What made the matter worse was that big publications like Reuters, the Associated Press and Agence France-Press, all removed the picture. In a follow-up, the Press Association, the famous British newswire closest to the Royals, also decided to remove the picture from its service.

Associated Press (AP) even put out a tweet, issuing a “Kill Notification”.

“Clients please be advised that the following story has been killed and should no longer be used,” read the notification.

The reason given at AP for the removing the picture was that “At closer inspection it appears that the source has manipulated the image. No replacement photo will be sent”.

The entire fiasco comes on the back of Kate Middleton undergoing a “planned abdominal surgery”. The news had broken on January 17 through a statement issued by Kensington Palace.

The statement, without going into detail, also informed that she would require 10-day hospital stay. However, Kate Middleton has remained elusive from the public eye since then, raising a fair few eyebrows.
