Amber Heard has filed an appeal against her loss in defamation case to ex-husband Johnny Depp.

Actor Amber Heard has officially appealed against her loss in the high-profile defamation case to ex-husband Johnny Depp. As per a report in CNN, Amber Heard's lawyers have argued that there were several errors during the previous trial. As per Amber Heard's lawyers, some of the errors were -- the trial being tried in Virginia and it also mentions how the court improperly barred the 'Aquaman' actor from submitting certain evidence.

As per a report in CNN, the lawyers of Amber Heard have also cited the exclusion of November 2020 case that Johnny Depp had lost against UK's newspaper 'The Sun'.

Heard's lawyers have also argued that the legal team of Johnny Depp did not prove any "actual malice" taking place in the case.

In November this year, the legal team of Johnny Depp had appealed against the court's decision to grant Amber Heard USD 2 million, as per the Los Angeles Times.

This particular case will now be put forward in front of a three-judge court of appeals panel for a decision.

Johnny Depp had previously accused Amber Heard of defaming him in an op-ed she wrote for the Washington Post in 2018.

After a much-talked about trial, the jury gave the verdict in favour of the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' actor, giving him USD 10 million in compensatory damages and USD 5 million dollars in punitive damages.

The jury also decided to award Amber Heard USD 2 million in compensatory damages and no money for punitive damages for her cross-complaint.

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard had married in 2015 and then Heard filed for divorce in 2016 and she had also managed to attain a  temporary restraining order against Depp, alleging that he had been verbally and physically abusive.

The divorce between the two was finalised in 2017.
