The Weeknd calls out media portal for their report on HBO show 'The Idol'.

The Weeknd has finally reacted to the Rolling Stone report, which had claimed that the singer's upcoming HBO show 'The Idol' is turning into a “twisted torture porn”. The report also claimed that the show has "gone wildly, disgustingly off the rails.” Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye posted a clip from the show on Instagram and he tagged Rolling Stone and wrote: "Did we upset you?” In the scene shared by The Weeknd, a character played by Dan Levy tells Tesfaye and Lily-Rose Depp’s pop star character Jocelyn to do a photoshoot for the cover of Rolling Stone.

Then Tesfaye, who plays a modern-day cult leader in the show, says: “Rolling Stone? Aren’t they a little irrelevant? Rolling Stone has 6 million followers on Instagram, half of them probably bots. And Jocelyn has 78 million followers, all real I’d assume. So she does a photo shoot, she tags them, they get her followers. More money for Rolling Stone, nothing for Jocelyn.”

Rolling Stone's editor Noah Shachtman also replied to The Weeknd's "did we upset you", saying: "Not at all."

For the unversed, the Rolling Stone's report claimed that 'The Idol' is in turmoil due to a poor working environment, last minute script rewrites and budget issues.

'The Idol' has been running into trouble since 2022 after director Amy Seimetz exited the show.

The Rolling Stone had cited their sources, which had revealed that in a now-deleted scene from the show, The Weeknd’s character bashed in Lily-Rose Depp character's face, and the latter's character then smiles to say that she wants to be beaten more, which ends up giving Tesfaye's character an erection.

As per Rolling Stone, Tesfaye's character would refuse to rape Depp's character which sent the latter into a spiral, begging him to "rape" her because she believed it would be the key to her success.
