Golden Globes 2023: Michelle Yeoh Wins For 'Everything Everywhere All at Once', Colin Farrell Takes Home Award For 'The Banshees of Inisherin'
Michelle Yeoh and Colin Farrell took home Golden Globe awards for their powerful performances in 'Everything Everywhere All at Once' and 'The Banshees of Inisherin', respectively.
Actress Michelle Yeoh won the Golden Globe in the 'best actress in a motion picture — comedy or musical' category for her powerful performance in the psychedelic comedy-drama 'Everything Everywhere All at Once'. Michelle Yeoh is the second Asian star to win in the category, the first being Awkwafina in 2020 for 'The Farewell'.
Michelle Yeoh beat out Lesley Manville for 'Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris', Margot Robbie for 'Babylon', Anya Taylor-Joy for 'The Menu' and Emma Thompson for 'Good Luck to You, Leo Grande'.
'Everything Everywhere All at Once', directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, features Michelle Yeoh as Evelyn Wang, a Chinese immigrant swept up in a wild adventure, where she's dropped into other universes on a mission to save her world.
Another award was announced shortly after Michelle Yeoh's win. Colin Farrell won the best actor in a musical or comedy film for his role in 'The Banshees of Inisherin'.
Directed by Martin McDonagh, who is best known for 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing', 'Missouri' and 'In Bruges', 'The Banshees of Inisherin' is a dark comedy portraying the crumbling of a lifelong friendship. Besides Colin Farrell, the film starred Brendan Gleeson, Kerry Condon, Barry Keoghan, Pat Shortt and Jon Kenny.
The Golden Globe Awards, which were not televised in 2022 after getting embroiled in scandal following a Los Angeles Times exposé in 2021, returned to TV this year. After several attempts to shore up its credibility, the Golden Globes 2023 ceremony was held at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.
The host for the ceremony is Jerrod Charmichael. The nominations for Golden Globes 2023 were announced on December 12, 2022.
