Golden Globes 2023: Several stars such as Colin Farrell, Michelle Pfeiffer have tested positive for COVID-19 days after the award ceremony.
Golden Globes 2023 was a star-studded ceremony and India's very own 'RRR' also ended up bringing an award home as the SS Rajamouli-directorial won the Best Original Song for 'Naatu Naatu'. However, days after the award ceremony, several Hollywood stars have confirmed that they tested positive for COVID-19 and the number of stars to have the virus, keeps on rising by the minute.
Stars such as Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, Jamie Lee Curtis and Michelle Pfeiffer have confirmed that they have contracted the virus, reported BBC.
It is important to mention that the Critics Choice Awards, required all attendees to test COVID-19 negative.
"I'm so sorry to be missing the Critics Choice Awards today. Yep, Covid," Pfeiffer had posted on Instagram. She was expected to present actor Jeff Bridges with a Lifetime Achievement award.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, COVID-19 safety precautions like testing, vaccination and mask requirements have been inconsistent this awards season. Some ceremonies have not had any safety requirements.
On the other hand, Golden Globes 2023 and Critics Choice Awards, both required proof of vaccination, testing or both.
As per the Center for Disease Control, weekly cases in the US have exceeded 4,00,000 for each of the last six weeks.
"This is not unexpected. You have indoor gatherings during a time when a lot of virus is circulating, whether it's cold or flu, and proximity without masking... you're going to have active transmission of viruses," Dr John Brownstein, an epidemiologist and chief innovation officer at Boston Children's Hospital told ABC, reported BBC.
