'Harry Potter' Series Ordered At HBO Max, To Feature Entirely New Cast

Hogwarts fans, assemble! A fresh 'Harry Potter' series has officially been ordered at HBO Max. The announcement was made during Warner Bros. Discovery’s presentation to press and investors. As per Variety, each season of the ‘Harry Potter’ show would be based on one of the books in the franchise and Warner Bros. Discovery has described the show as a "decade long series." It has also been revealed that the series will have an entirely new cast from the films.

“We are delighted to give audiences the opportunity to discover Hogwarts in a whole new way,” said Casey Bloys, chairman and CEO of HBO & Max Content, as per Variety. 

“Harry Potter is a cultural phenomenon and it is clear there is such an enduring love and thirst for the Wizarding World. In partnership with Warner Bros. Television and J.K. Rowling, this new Max Original series will dive deep into each of the iconic books that fans have continued to enjoy for all of these years," he added.

HBO Max will now be called just 'Max' as revealed at the event, will be producing the show in association with Bronte Film and TV, and Warner Bros. Television.

JK Rowling will executively produce the show along with Neil Blair and Ruth Kenley-Letts.

For the unversed, the first book in the 'Harry Potter' series -- 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone' was published in 1997 while the last book -- 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' debuted in 2007. 

There have been eight 'Harry Potter' films to date, which have collectively made more than USD 7.7 billion at the global box office.
