'Everything Everywhere All At Once' continued its winning run at Oscars 2023 as the movie ended up picking the award for Best Director as well. Daniel Kwan and Daniel Schienert picked up the accolade. Earlier in the ceremony, 'Everything Everywhere All At Once' had picked up wins in Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Original Screenplay categories.
Daniel Kwan and Daniel Schienert defeated the likes of Todd Field (Tar), Martin McDonagh (The Banshees of Inisherin), Ruben Ostlund (Triangle of Sadness), and Steven Spielberg (The Fabelmans) to win Best Director at the Oscars.
Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert had earlier won the Best Director award at the Directors Guild of America and Critics Choice awards, while they were nominated for the BAFTA and Golden Globes.
'Everything Everywhere All at Once' released in 2022 and the film was directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert. The plot revolves around Evelyn Wang, a Chinese-American immigrant who, while being audited by the IRS, discovers that she must connect with parallel universe versions of herself to prevent a powerful being from destroying the multiverse. The film stars Michelle Yeoh, Stephanie Hsu, Ke Huy Quan, Jenny Slate, Harry Shum Jr, James Hong, and Jamie Lee Curtis.
The 95th Academy Awards are being held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Jimmy Kimmel is hosting the mega awards night and this is his third time, hosting the event, after the 89th and 90th editions of the ceremony which were held in 2017 and 2018 respectively.
The nominations for Oscars 2023 were announced on January 24 by actors Riz Amed and Allison Williams.
Both 'Avatar: The Way Of Water' and 'Top Gun: Maverick' secured nominations in the Best Picture category, and hence this marked the first time that two sequels will be featuring in one ceremony.
'All Quiet on the Western Front' secured nine nominations for this year's Oscars. Michelle Yeoh, the star of 'Everything Everywhere All At Once' became the first Asian to pick up a nomination in the Best Actress category.
