Oscars 2023: India's 'All That Breathes' missed out in the Best Documentary Feature category.
Shaunak Sen's 'All That Breathes' missed out and ended up not winning the Best Documentary Feature accolade at the ongoing Oscars 2023. It was 'Navalny' that ended up winning the award. The accolade was presented by seasoned actor Riz Ahmed. Before the ceremony started, almost all main media portals were predicting that 'All That Breathes' will pick up the win, but it was not to be the case.
'Navalny' defeated the likes of 'All That Breathes', 'All The Beauty and the Bloodshed', 'Fire of Love) and 'A House Made of Splinters'.
Talking about 'All That Breathes', the documentary had released in 2022 and it followed siblings Mohammad Saud and Nadeem Shehzad, who rescue and treat injured birds in India.
When one speaks about 'Navalny', the film directed by Daniel Roher revolved around Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny and events related to his poisoning.
Talking about Oscars 2023, 'An Irish Goodbye' picked up the win in the Best Live Action Short category as it defeated the likes of 'Ivalu', 'Le Pupille', 'Night Ride', and 'The Red Suitcase'.
The 95th Academy Awards are being held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Jimmy Kimmel is hosting the mega awards night and this is his third time, hosting the event, after the 89th and 90th editions of the ceremony which were held in 2017 and 2018 respectively.
The nominations for Oscars 2023 were announced on January 24 by actors Riz Amed and Allison Williams.
Both 'Avatar: The Way Of Water' and 'Top Gun: Maverick' secured nominations in the Best Picture category, and hence this marked the first time that two sequels will be featuring in one ceremony.
'All Quiet on the Western Front' secured nine nominations for this year's Oscars. Michelle Yeoh, the star of 'Everything Everywhere All At Once' became the first Asian to pick up a nomination in the Best Actress category.
