‘RRR’ had been nominated for an Oscar in the Best Original Song category, and it ended up winning the trophy as composer MM Keeravani and lyricist Chandrabose took to the stage to thank everyone.

‘Naatu Naatu’ not only became the first ever Telugu song to have won an Oscar but also become the first song from the industry to be performed at the Oscars. The live performance by singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava received a standing ovation.

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, who was one of the Oscar presenters, introduced the performance of ‘Naatu Naatu’ during the prestigious event.

Apart from ‘Naatu Naatu’, other Indian contenders at the 95th Academy Awards were Shaunak Sen’s documentary feature ‘All That Breathes’, which lost to ‘Navalny’ and Kartiki Gonsalves-directed documentary ‘The Elephant Whisperers’, which bagged an Oscar in the Best Documentary Shorts category.
