Jimmy Kimmel will be hosting Oscars 2023.

The Oscars 2023 are just around the corner, and the star-studded ceremony will be taking place on Sunday (Monday morning in India). India has a big chance to make history at the event as 'RRR', 'All That Breathes' and 'The Elephant Whisperers' have been nominated in different categories. The award night will be hosted by none other than Jimmy Kimmel. At the last year's Oscars, a huge controversy erupted after actor Will Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock on stage after the latter joked about Will Smith wife Jada Pinkett Smith's alopecia.

So what will host Jimmy Kimmel do if someone decided to slap him on stage during this year's Oscars.

"You mean, if somebody comes up on the stage and slaps me? Well, I size them up, and, if I’m bigger than they are, I beat the shit out of them on television. And if it’s the Rock, I run," Kimmel said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

During the Oscars 2017, Jimmy Kimmel was at the centre of the Envelope Scandal, as the presenters by mistake announced 'La La Land' as the Best Picture winner, when it was actually 'Moonlight' that had won the award.

"Yeah, we got knocked down the list. It’s disappointing in a lot of ways. If you’re gonna be part of a f***u*, it might as well be the biggest f***u* ever. Being part of the second-biggest f***u* doesn’t carry as much cachet," said Kimmel.

When asked about how his opening monologue would go at the event, Kimmel said: "It’ll be similar to what I’ve done in the past. I don’t have a lot of talents, so there’s not a huge number of areas for me to draw from outside of telling jokes. I mean, I am pretty good at drawing cartoons, so I guess I could sit down and do caricatures of the stars?"

"But I particularly enjoy writing jokes for a specific audience, whether that be at the upfronts or a bunch of TV or movie stars. It enables you to be very specific," he added.

Deepika Padukone, Emily Blunt, Riz Ahmed, Glenn Close, Jennifer Connelly, Ariana DeBose, Samuel L Jackson, Dwayne Johnson, Michael B Jordon, Troy Kotsur, Jonathan Majors, Melissa McCarthy, Janelle Monae, Questlove, Zoe Saldana and Donnie Yen will all be presenting at this year's Oscars.

The 95th Academy Awards will be held at Los Angeles' Dolby Theatre on March 12 (March 13 in India).
