It is worth mentioning that the delicate gold embroidery on Jr NTR’s black velvet traditional bandhgala featured a tiger print, which is an ode to the iconic interval scene from ‘RRR’. For the unversed, NTR Jr is popularly known as ‘Tiger’ amongst his fans.
The Oscar-winning song ‘Naatu Naatu’ from ‘RRR’ was also performed at the 95th Academy Awards by singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava in their Oscar debut. Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone introduced them on stage for the electrifying performance.
‘Naatu Naatu’, composed by MM Keeravani and sung by Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava, was competing against the likes of ‘Applause’ from ‘Tell It Like a Woman’, ‘Hold My Hand’ from ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, ‘Lift Me Up’ from ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ and ‘This Is a Life’ from ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’ in the Best Original Song Category.
Before bagging the Best Original Song award at Oscars 2023, ‘Naatu Naatu’ won several awards on the global stage.
In January, ‘Naatu Naatu’ won the Golden Globes in the Best Original Song category. Five days later, RRR bagged two more awards at the 28th edition of the Critics Choice Awards. One for the best song and another for the best foreign language film.
Coming back to Oscars 2023, the ceremony is being held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Jimmy Kimmel is hosting the mega awards night and this is his third time hosting the event, after the 89th and 90th editions of the ceremony which were held in 2017 and 2018, respectively.
