Watch: Overexcited Fan Hugs Dhanush At ‘Idli Kadai’ Event Despite Security Intervention; Here’s How Actor Reacted
Dhanush won hearts at the ‘Idli Kadai’ trailer launch after stopping security, inviting an overexcited fan back on stage, and posing for a picture with him.
At the trailer launch of Dhanush’s upcoming film ‘Idli Kadai’ in Coimbatore on Friday, the actor-filmmaker experienced an unexpected yet heart-warming moment. While delivering his speech on stage, a fan managed to break through the security barrier and rush up to him, leading to an interaction that quickly became the highlight of the event. The enthusiastic fan ran on stage and tightly hugged Dhanush, visibly thrilled to meet his idol. The sudden gesture caught the actor by surprise, but he remained calm even as security personnel rushed forward to pull the fan away.
The situation briefly turned into a scuffle as the fan refused to let go. However, Dhanush appeared to signal to his security to handle the matter gently, showing concern for the fan’s safety. Videos of the same are going viral online.

Once the commotion settled, Dhanush did something that left the audience cheering. He asked his security team to step back and invited the fan back on stage. Stopping him from falling at his feet, the actor promised him a picture instead. He even fixed the fan’s hair before patiently posing for a photograph. The overwhelmed fan managed to hug Dhanush once again before being escorted away, while security personnel continued to express concern.
As videos from the event surfaced online, several fans lauded Dhanush’s humility and kindness. One user pointed out, “The way he combed his hair,” praising the star’s affectionate gesture. Others commented that they had “even more respect” for Dhanush after seeing how he treated the fan with dignity and warmth instead of irritation.
The Indian star has been on a strong run professionally. Following ‘Captain Miller’ and ‘Raayan’, the latter of which he directed last year, Dhanush starred in Sekhar Kammula’s ‘Kuberaa’ earlier this year. His portrayal of Deva, a beggar, won him widespread critical acclaim, alongside co-stars Nagarjuna and Rashmika Mandanna. He also directed ‘Nilavaku En Mel Ennadi Kobam’, featuring his nephew Pavish in the lead.
‘Idli Kadai’ marks another milestone for the versatile star as he not only leads the cast but also directs and co-produces the film. Featuring Nithya Menen and Shalini Pandey in pivotal roles, the movie is slated to hit theatres on October 1.
Meanwhile, Dhanush is also busy shooting for Aanand L Rai’s ‘Tere Ishk Mein’ opposite Kriti Sanon, further cementing his place as one of India’s most dynamic stars.
