Malavika Mohanan issues clarification about her 'lady superstar' comment.

Malavika Mohanan continues to face backlash from fans of Nayanthara. The reason being -- the recent comments made by Malavika Mohanan about the title 'Lady Superstar' did not go down well with fans of Nayanthara and several indicated that Malavika has taken a dig at the other actress. In the interview, Malavika had said that she does not like the term lady superstar. “To be honest, I don’t like the term. You should call all actors superstars. The word ‘Lady’ is not required. We refer to Deepika Padukone as superstar not lady superstar. Alia Bhatt is a superstar. Katrina Kaif is superstar. We can call them just that," Malavika Mohanan had said on a Malayalam YouTube channel.

However, facing the wrath of Nayanthara fans, Malavika has come out with an explanation, saying she admires and respects the actress.

"My comment was about a term that is used to describe female actors & not about any specific actor. I really respect & admire Nayanthara, and as a senior really look upto her incredible journey. Can people please calm down. Especially the tabloid journos," Malavika Mohanan wrote on Twitter.

This is not the first time that Malavika has been involved in a controversy involving Nayanthara.

Earlier, Malavika had criticised a scene from Nayanthara's movie. The actress had said that the scene showcased Nayanthara in a hospital as a patient but her look was proper, which was a bit unrealistic.

Nayanthara had also addressed this comment, saying the movie was a commercial movie, and it did not have to very realistic.

On the work front, Malavika Mohanan is awaiting the release of 'Christy'. On the other hand, Nayanthara will be next seen opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Atlee's 'Jawan'.
