Tragedy Strikes ‘Pushpa 2’ Premiere In Hyderabad As Woman Dies, Child Injured After Stampede: Report

‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’, starring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil, has created mass hysteria. The Sukumar directorial is witnessing mayhem inside theatres. The pan-India film's premiere in Hyderabad turned out to be a chaotic event on Wednesday night and resulted in a tragedy. A massive crowd gathered at Sandhya Theatre, RTC crossroads, and this led to the collapse of a woman and her child. Reportedly, the 35-year-old woman died and her nine-year-old son was left critically injured in a stampede-like situation at the theatre.

The incident reportedly took place at around 10 pm on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Revathi. As per reports, the entire area housing many other cinema theatres, was packed with thousands of fans of Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna.

Once the news surfaced that Allu Arjun was arriving at the theatre to see the response to the film, a sea of fans gathered and the officials were not able to control the crowd. As the situation spiralled out of control, police personnel resorted to lathi charge to remove the crowd.

As per the reports, the victim Revathi, hailing from Dilsukhnagar, came to attend the screening of the movie along with her husband Bhaskar and their two children. While the deceased’s husband and their daughter managed to escape with mild injuries, the mother and the son were trampled by the crowd.

Speaking of ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’, the film is garnering positive response from critics, with special praise for Allu Arjun's performance. ‘Pushpa 2’ has already minted Rs 52.73 crore across all languages on the first day of its release.

Earlier, ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ had recorded a booking of Rs 91.24 crore for the first day after selling 31,76,497 tickets for the opening day.

‘Pushpa 2’ is expected to break all records and register the biggest opening for an Indian film. Worldwide, it is expected that the film will open to more than Rs 200 crore.

The film is the sequel to Sukumar’s 2021 film ‘Pushpa: The Rise’. Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil have reprised their roles as Pushpa Raj, Srivalli, and Bhanwar Singh Shekawat.

Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings have bankrolled the film. Devi Sri Prasad has composed the film’s music.
