‘RRR’ Sequel With Ram Charan And Jr NTR Confirmed By V Vijayendra Prasad, Film Likely To Be Helmed By Hollywood Director
V Vijayendra Prasad, SS Rajamouli's father and screenwriter of ‘RRR’, recently revealed that the sequel of the hit movie is in the works.
Ram Charan and Jr NTR-starrer ‘RRR’ had released in March 2022 and it went on to become a massive success. The hit film, directed by SS Rajamouli, also received global recognition as it won a Golden Globe Award and two Critics Choice Awards. The Telugu film also created history after the song ‘Naatu Naatu’ won the Best Original Song award at the Oscars 2023. The film also has a massive box office collection, grossing over Rs 1000 crore worldwide. And fans were anticipating whether there will be a sequel of ‘RRR’.
Now, SS Rajamouli's father and screenwriter of ‘RRR’, V Vijayendra Prasad, recently revealed that the sequel of the hit movie is in the works. As per reports, Vijayendra Prasad spoke about the upcoming project during an interaction with Maha News on the occasion of 20 years of Rajamouli’s Simhadri.
He also confirmed that both Telugu superstars, Ram Charan and Jr NTR, will return for the sequel. However, ‘RRR’ sequel may not continue the same storyline. It is likely to be based on another chapter from the Telugu states of the pre-Independence era.
The screenwriter also said that the film could either be helmed by SS Rajamouli or a Hollywood director under SS Rajamouli’s supervision.
SS Rajamouli will next helm the film tentatively titled ‘SSMB 29’, which will see Mahesh Babu in an Indiana Jones-like adventure film.
V Vijayendra Prasad further revealed that SS Rajamouli’s next project, after the Mahesh Babu-starrer, will be based on Mahabharata. However, he did not reveal any further details about it.
V Vijayendra Prasad also shared that SS Rajamouli is starting a production house, which will be managed by his son SS Karthikeya.
‘RRR’ is a Telugu film that was dubbed in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam among Indian languages.
The film tells a fictional story based on the lives of two Telugu freedom fighters -- Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem, with Ram Charan and Jr NTR playing the lead roles. Besides Ram Charan and Jr NTR, ‘RRR’ also featured Bollywood superstars Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn.
