Salaar and Dunki
Here's what Prashanth Neel had to say about the box office clash between 'Salaar' and 'Dunki'.

Fans of Prabhas and Shah Rukh Khan have been having a go at each other ever since 'Salaar: Part One - Ceasefire' and 'Dunki' clashed with each other at the box office. For the unversed, 'Dunki' directed by Rajkumar Hirani, which also stars Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Anil Grover, and Vikram Kochhar, released in theatres on December 21 while Prashanth Neel-directed 'Salaar', which also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, and Shriya Reddy, released in theatres on December 22.

In the latest entertainment news, 'Salaar' director Prashanth Neel has finally reacted to the box office clash with 'Dunki', saying there is "no war."

"This is what happens in cinema. You root for your heroes and the emotions get the better of you. It might be that way (war) for the fans but for us, we are not trying to compete with one another. We are both trying to survive together. I do not advocate of being a part of something like that," Prashanth Neel told Pinkvilla.

"It's nasty is what I heard. And I really wish it did not come down to something like that because both the stars are huge in Indian cinema and they deserve all the respect that they have accumulated over the years. The whole environment is not good for the cinema also. You rather ignore it because there is no way to control something like that. You just let it pass," he added.

Further speaking about the clash, Prashanth Neel said, "There is no war between Dunki and Salaar. I don't think either of us think like that. I don't think the makers of Dunki think like that, I don't think the makers of Salaar think like that. We are here to survive and we are here to impress the audience. We are here to entertain the audience. We are not here to compete amongst ourselves. This is not a cricket match."

'Salaar's total box office collection in India now stands at Rs 318 crore. The new Telugu film is also earning good money in the Hindi version, however, the bulk of the collection has come through the Telugu version.

'Salaar' has been performing better than Shah Rukh Khan's 'Dunki, however, the weekday collection of the Prabhas-starrer has been underwhelming after a thunderous start.

The total nett domestic collection of 'Dunki' now stands at Rs 167.47 crore. Worldwide, the SRK-starrer has gone past the Rs 320 crore mark.

For the unversed, 'Salaar' has been released in theatres in five languages -- Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi and Kannada.

On the other hand, 'Dunki' has just been released in the Hindi version.
