‘The Crown’ Season 5: Netflix Releases Trailer, It’s Princess Diana Vs Royal Family!
‘The Crown’ Season 5 is all set to return in November 2022, and Netflix recently dropped the trailer for the multiple-Emmy winning series.
The makers of Netflix’s ‘The Crown’ have unveiled the acclaimed drama show’s Season 5 trailer ahead of its premiere on November 9. Going by the trailer, ‘The Crown’ Season 5 will focus on the tensions between the late Princess Diana and the Royal family. Following the tradition of casting new actors to reflect the real-life royals as they age, ‘The Crown’ Season 5 will feature Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth, Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret, Dominic West as Prince Charles and Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana. West's teenage son Seamus will also appear as a young Prince William.

The two-minute-30-second-long trailer opens with scenes of the devastating 1992 fire at Windsor Castle. The camera then zooms in on Queen Elizabeth (Imelda Staunton), who says, "In light of the last 12 months, perhaps I have more to reflect on than most." The viewers also hear media commentary that states, "The royal family is in genuine crisis."
The trailer also showcases Princess Diana's pain as she prepares to talk to BBC Panorama about life inside the palace. "I won't go quietly. I'll battle to the end,” Princess Diana’s character says. The fallout between Princess Diana and Prince Charles and his subsequent romance with Camilla also find a place in the trailer of ‘The Crown’ Season 5.
Netflix's ‘The Crown’, which debuted in 2016, has been praised for its portrayal of the British Empire's history. Over its four-season run, it has reportedly been nominated for around 423 awards so far and won 129 of them. Renowned actors including Olivia Colman, Tobias Menzies, Gillian Anderson, Helena Bonham Carter, and Claire Foy have been associated with the previous installments of ‘The Crown’.
