CWC 2023, ENG vs NZ: 'Ghoomer' actress Saiyami Kher has given her take on the low crowd turnout for the tournament opener in Ahmedabad.
Cricket World Cup 2023 got underway on Thursday. The first match of the marquee event is being played between England and New Zealand. It was being expected that the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will be packed to capacity, and the crowd will turn out in huge numbers even when the hosts India are not playing. However, everyone was left disappointed after images of empty stands surfaced on social media. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is not even 25 per cent full as of now, and the tournament opener is being played out in front of empty stands. In the latest entertainment news, actress Saiyami Kher has now given her take on the same.
Taking to X, Saiyami Kher wrote, "Very disheartening to see this turnout for the opener of the World Cup. Is this end of ODI cricket? #WorldCup2023."

One can only expect that the crowd would increase in the evening.
Talking about the match between England and New Zealand, the toss was won by the latter, and Tom Latham decided that his team would bowl first.
Talking about Saiyami Kher, the actress was last seen in 'Ghoomer' alongside Abhishek Bachchan, Angad Bedi, and Shabana Azmi. The movie opened to good reviews, however, it failed to earn money as it got sandwiched between 'Gadar 2', and 'OMG 2'.
The 50-over World Cup will be played between October 5-November 19. India will play their first match of the tournament against Australia on October 8 in Chennai.
India's marquee match against Pakistan will take place on October 14 in Ahmedabad.
