“Going To Be Watching…”: Prithviraj Sukumaran Reacts To ‘Salaar’ Clashing With Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dunki’
Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran weighed in on ‘Salaar’ and Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dunki’ being released on the same day.
2023 has undoubtedly belonged to one man, and one man only – his name is Shah Rukh Khan. The Badshah of Bollywood came roaring back this year, registering two blockbuster hits in the form of ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawan’. King Khan has a third release coming out this year -- Dunki -- and a lot is being expected from the movie, directed by Rajkumar Hirani. However, there is a small problem for ‘Dunki’ and that comes in the shape of Telugu superstar, Prabhas’ newest serving ‘Salaar’: Part 1 – Ceasefire. The new Indian movie has been written and directed by Prashanth Neel and also stars another big name from the South Indian film industry Prithviraj Sukumaran.
Having gained popularity with movies like ‘Kaapa’ and ‘Jana Gana Mana’, Sukumaran is now a big draw in South Indian cinema.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, the actor finally weighed in on the epic box-office clash between ‘Salaar’ and ‘Dunki’.
"I am not quite sure what promotions plans are, the makers will let us know by November how they roll out the film. I am in touch with Prashanth (Neel, director) but the fact that we are releasing with Hirani sir and Shah Rukh sir's film, leave everything else, as a film lover I love it! I am excited that during the holiday season, you have two giant films, by two giant filmmakers, starring two big stars, and diametrically opposite in every possible parameter like the story and narrative," he said to Hindustan Times.
“I am going to be watching both, I can promise you that. I am so looking forward to it. When did this last happen, that over a holiday season, we had two such big films. What better year than 2023 to celebrate Indian cinema like this," he added.
Ever since it became public that the two movies will be releasing on December 22, 2023, the frenzy on social media has reached fever pitch.
Shah Rukh Khan fans and Prabhas fans have been at each other’s throat, trying to one-up each other.
Which movie comes out on top at the box office is anyone’s guess, but it sure is going to be one of the biggest clashes ever seen in Indian cinema.
