Rohit Sharma penned a heartfelt note for Rahul Dravid.

Rahul Dravid's coaching stint with Team India came to the best possible end as he won the T20 World Cup 2024. The win was made sweeter as the victory came in Bridgetown, Barbados where back in 1997, India failed to chase down 120-odd runs against West Indies in a Test match, and was bundled out for 81. After the T20 World Cup final win, the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were seen handing the trophy to Rahul Dravid.

The seniors also carried Rahul Dravid on their shoulders, and this made for a memorable moment. In the latest Indian cricket team news, skipper Rohit Sharma on Tuesday penned a heartfelt note for Dravid, expressing his admiration for the 'Wall'.

"Dear Rahul bhai, I have been trying to find the right words to properly express my feelings on this but I’m not sure I ever will so here’s my attempt. Since my childhood days I have looked up to you just like billions of others but I was lucky enough to get to work with you this closely. You are an absolute stalwart of this game but you left all of your accolades and achievements at the door and walked in as our coach and came on a level where we all felt comfortable enough to say just about anything to you," Rohit Sharma wrote on Instagram.

"That is your gift, your humility and your love for this game even after all this time. I have learnt so much from you and every memory will be cherished. My wife refers to you as my work wife and I’m lucky to get to call you that too," he added.

Further in his post, Rohit Sharma wrote, "This was the only thing missing from your arsenal and I’m so happy that we got to achieve it together. Rahul bhai it has been an absolute privilege to get to call you my confidant, my coach and my friend."

For the unversed, after the T20 World Cup final, Rahul Dravid revealed that he wanted to quit the coaching job after India faced a defeat in the 2023 World Cup final against Australia, but Rohit Sharma's call changed his plans.

"Ro, thank you very much for making that call to me in November and asking me to continue," Dravid, whose tenure ended after India's T20 World Cup 2024 title win, said in a video posted by the BCCI.

"I think it's been such a privilege and a pleasure to work with each and every one of you, but Ro, also thanks for the time. There is a lot of time we have to chat, we have to discuss, we have to agree, we have to disagree at times, but thank you so very much," he added.

During Dravid's coaching tenure, Team India also made it to the finals of 2023 World Test Championship and 2023 ODI World Cup. In both the finals, India faced defeat against Australia.

It is important to mention that Dravid never won an ICC trophy with the senior side, as a player, but with a coach, the resillient Dravid managed to make it happen.
