YouTube has taken down Ranveer Allahbadia controversial India’s Got Latent episode.

Popular podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia recently landed in controversy after making inappropriate jokes during his appearance on comedian Samay Raina’s YouTube show ‘India’s Got Latent’. His wildly inappropriate jokes triggered massive backlash on social media. According to reports, YouTube has now removed the controversial episode after receiving a notice from the Information and Broadcasting Ministry. Reportedly, Priyank Kanoongo, a member of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), had also sought the video's removal. The incident reignited discussions on content moderation and the responsibility of influencers in the digital space.

On Tuesday, Kanchan Gupta, a senior advisor to the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, confirmed the episode’s removal.

He tweeted, “The ‘India Has (sic) Latent’ episode on YouTube with obscene and perverse comments by Ranveer Allahbadia has been blocked following Government of India orders.” He also shared a screenshot of the removed video.

For the unversed, the controversy erupted after Ranveer Allahbadia asked a contestant a highly inappropriate question, “Would you rather watch your parents have s*x for the rest of your life, or would you join in once and stop it forever?”

The crass joke sparked outrage across social media, with netizens calling for stricter content regulations. The backlash resulted in multiple complaints, prompting government intervention.

Ranveer Allahbadia, who boasts 10.5 million subscribers on his BeerBiceps YouTube channel and 4.5 million followers on Instagram, soon issued a public apology amid the uproar. Acknowledging his mistake, he admitted that his comment was not only inappropriate but also unfunny. “Comedy is not my forte. I’m just here to say sorry,” he stated.

Despite his apology, the controversy has sparked a wider debate on the kind of content being produced on digital platforms and the need for more accountability from creators with significant influence.

Recently, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis suggested action against the YouTuber, saying, “Everyone has freedom of speech, but our freedom ends when we encroach upon the freedom of others.”

“There should be a dignified way of expressing ourselves. In our society, there are rules against obscenity. It is very wrong for someone to violate those rules, and action should be taken against the violators," Devendra Fadnavis added.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Police have summoned Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay Raina for questioning in connection to the ongoing controversy.

This development follows Mumbai Police DCP Diskhit Gedam’s confirmation of an official inquiry into the matter. The investigation was initiated after complaints were filed against Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, the show's organizers, YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani, and social media influencer Apoorva Makhija, also known as The Rebel Kid, who were all part of the controversial episode.
