The much-anticipated trailer for Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan’s directorial debut ‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood’ has finally dropped. The trailer of the upcoming Netflix series promises a high-octane, satirical deep-dive into the glamorous yet treacherous world of the Indian film industry. Produced by Gauri Khan under the Red Chillies Entertainment banner, the trailer offers a glimpse into a narrative filled with ambition, power plays, dark secrets, and a healthy dose of meta-commentary, all backed by an impressive ensemble cast and a slew of surprising cameos.

Check out the trailer here:

The story centres on Aasman Singh, an aspiring actor portrayed by Lakshya, who navigates the dizzying highs and devastating lows of stardom. The trailer opens with him being cheekily told, “Aasman tumhe ulti cheezein bolne mein bahut mazza aata hoga na, jab dekho tamasha khada karte ho,” to which he retorts, “Main toh sir actor hun, tamasha khada karna toh kaam hai mera.”

This sets the tone for a character who is witty, ambitious, and perhaps naive to the industry's harsh realities. We see his journey from a celebrated newcomer, showered with love from his proud parents (played by the ever-reliable Manoj Pahwa and Mona Singh), to facing brutal criticism for his debut performance.

What makes the trailer stand out is its unflinching, satirical gaze at Bollywood's inner workings. The series is packed with cameos from industry titans playing fictionalized, and often humorous, versions of themselves. In one memorable scene, Aasman imagines superstars Aamir Khan and director S.S. Rajamouli having a profound creative discussion, only for the reality to be a comical argument over ordering Idli or Vada Pav.

Karan Johar is presented as the powerful producer who gives Aasman a stark ultimatum, while Bobby Deol appears as an intimidating and powerful figure, seemingly a protective father who warns, “This is not the launch I want for my daughter,” hinting at a conflict involving the female lead played by Sahher Bambba.

The narrative quickly escalates from a story of struggle to a thrilling drama involving contract disputes, threats, and alleged links to the "underworld." Aasman is caught in a web of deceit, forced to make impossible choices that test his integrity. The trailer effectively balances intense action sequences, car chases, and fight scenes with poignant emotional beats, particularly the heartfelt advice from his father. The series also stars Raghav Juyal, Anya Singh, Manish Chaudhari, Rajat Bedi, and Gautami Kapoor in pivotal roles.

The ultimate surprise is reserved for the end, featuring a stellar cameo by Shah Rukh Khan. In a brilliantly meta closing scene, SRK, the "Badshah of Bollywood," tries to meet Manoj Pahwa’s character who repeatedly refuses, sending back the comically insulting message “Ghante ka Badshah”. Shah Rukh Khan's amused and then indignant reaction provides a perfect, crowd-pleasing finish.

The trailer of ‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood’ successfully establishes a world that is both aspirational and dangerous. It promises a thrilling blend of drama, action, and razor-sharp satire. The show is set to premiere on Netflix on September 18.
