BR Ambedkar's Grandson Prakash Ambedkar Praises Made In Heaven 2 Episode Featuring Radhika Apte As Dalit Woman
Prakash Ambedkar, the grandson of BR Ambedkar, has praised the fifth episode of 'Made in Heaven' Season 2 and its director Neeraj Ghaywan.
The second season of Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti's highly-acclaimed series 'Made In Heaven' was released last week and the fifth episode which featured Radhika Apte as a Dalit bride is winning praise from all corners. In the latest entertainment news, Prakash Ambedkar, the grandson of BR Ambedkar, has praised the particular episode in question and its director Neeraj Ghaywan on Twitter.
Prakash Ambedkar posted two pictures in his tweet. In one picture, Radhika Apte can be seen saying: "Everything is about the politics."
The second picture is of a Buddha portrait and a BR Ambedkar portrait from the Buddhist wedding in the episode.
Taking to Twitter, Prakash wrote: "I absolutely loved the assertion, defiance and resistance of the Dalit woman character — Pallavi. For those Vanchits and Bahujans who have watched the episode — Assert your identity and only then you gain political prominence. As Pallavi puts it, ‘Everything is about the politics.’ Jai Bhim!”

On the other hand, journalist and author Yashica Dutt, who had earlier written a book titled 'Coming Out as Dalit', took to Instagram to share how the particular episode "gave her chills" and she also criticised the makers of the show for showing "a version of her life on screen without permission or credit."
"It’s been an overwhelming few days. Seeing my likeness on screen without warning or permission was a roller-coaster starting from thrill and excitement to sadness and loss. I continue to support @neeraj.ghaywan’s excellent work, whether now with Made in Heaven or Geeli Pucchi before. But this needs to be addressed. Before I came out as Dalit in 2016, there was no vocabulary to identify the process of revealing your Dalitness after hiding it for years and owning it with pride either. Today, in 2023, there is both. Dalit directors like Neeraj Ghaywan have revolutionised our cinematic language by showcasing unapologetic Dalits in Bollywood, a tradition that has an even longer history in Southern cinema," she wrote.
"The scene where the Dalit author, who is from Columbia, has written a book about 'coming out' and talks about her grandmother 'manually cleaning toilets', asserts her selfhood with her life partner-to-be, gave me chills. It was surreal to see a version of my life on screen that was not, but yet was still me. But soon the heartbreak set in. They were my words, but my name was nowhere... The ideas I cultivated, that are my life's work, that I continue to receive immense hate for just speaking, were taken without permission or credit," she added.
For the unversed, the fifth episode of 'Made in Heaven' Season 2 is titled 'The Heart Skipped a Beat'.
The episode features Radhika Apte playing the role of Pallavi Menke, who is shown to be an Ivy League lawyer and author. The episode shows how she is in an inter-caste relationship.
In the episode, Radhika Apte’s character Pallavi is shown to have an outspoken nature, and her fiancee happens to be equally supportive of her beliefs. As the events unfold, Radhika Apte's character wants to have a Dalit wedding, and it is then that the situation takes an unexpected turn.
However, despite the challenges, Radhika Apte's character remains firm in her decision, and even her fiancee supports her when he comes to know about the true intentions of his family.
