Considered a spiritual successor to Aamir Khan’s 2007 classic ‘Taare Zameen Par’, the new film has been lauded for spotlighting the lives and talents of specially-abled individuals.
Backed by Aamir Khan Productions, ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ features ten newcomers – Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar.
Aamir stars alongside Genelia Deshmukh, who plays a key role in the story. Directed by RS Prasanna, the film is an official Hindi remake of the Spanish hit ‘Campeones’. It opened in theatres on June 21 to a modest start but quickly picked up momentum over the weekend, thanks to strong word-of-mouth and critical acclaim.
By Tuesday – the fifth day since release – ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ had earned Rs 8.12 crore, taking its total domestic net collection to Rs 75 crore.
Globally, the film crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in just four days, marking a significant comeback for Aamir Khan after the underwhelming performance of his previous project ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’. Notably, ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ has also surpassed the lifetime domestic earnings of ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’, highlighting its impact both commercially and culturally.
