Aamir Khan’s appearance was part of the outreach for ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’, a film that marks his big-screen comeback after a series of underwhelming releases.
Released on June 21, the film is a spiritual successor to ‘Taare Zameen Par’ and explores the journey of a basketball coach, played by Aamir, who mentors differently-abled children. Co-starring Genelia Deshmukh and directed by RS Prasanna, the movie has garnered praise for its emotional depth and empowering message.
Despite a slow start, ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ has turned out to be a box office success, grossing over Rs 135 crore in India and crossing the Rs 200 crore mark globally.
It also marks Aamir’s first hit since ‘Secret Superstar’ in 2017. The Bollywood megastar recently hosted a prestigious screening of the film at Rashtrapati Bhavan for President Droupadi Murmu, further adding to its growing stature.
While the media walkout may have raised a few eyebrows, it does little to dim the success of Aamir’s latest cinematic outing. If anything, it’s a reminder of the human side of stardom – where even the most composed stars have their moments.
