Watch: Aamir Khan Recreates Magnus Carlsen–Gukesh Table Slam Meme, Fans Call It “Best Meme Ever”
Aamir Khan hilariously recreated Magnus Carlsen’s viral table-slam moment in a new promo reel, leaving fans in splits ahead of Sitaare Zameen Par's release.
Aamir Khan has once again proven that he’s not just “Mr. Perfectionist” but also a good sport with a great sense of humour. In a now-viral reel, the actor recreated chess grandmaster Magnus Carlsen’s famous table-slam moment – adding his own twist of comic flair – and the internet can’t get enough. The hilarious video was filmed during a recent meeting with influencer Prakhar Gupta, as part of the promotions for Aamir Khan’s upcoming film ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’.
Prakhar Gupta captioned the post, “Unlocked Aamir Khan’s Magnus mode for a second. Late to the party, but congratulations.”

The two took the opportunity to poke fun at Aamir Khan’s long-standing “perfectionist” image. The reel, titled “When you ask Aamir to trade perfection for a list of back-to-back movies”, begins with Prakhar handing Aamir a thick stack of scripts.
In mock frustration, Aamir Khan slams his fist on the table and then stomps dramatically around Prakhar – an exaggerated nod to the iconic outburst by Magnus Carlsen.
Carlsen’s original moment, which made headlines earlier this month, occurred after losing a match to Indian chess prodigy D Gukesh during the Norway Chess 2025 tournament. The clip of Carlsen’s table slam quickly went viral, and now, Aamir’s playful version is winning over fans.
Social media erupted after the video dropped. Comments poured in, with fans writing things like, “How the hell did you convince him?” and “Trend winner.”
Others added, “Mr. Perfection,” “Best meme ever,” and “A re-creation no one saw coming.” One even joked, “Aamir Khan playing @gukesh.official...unexpected biography.”
The reel showcases Aamir Khan’s fun side just as anticipation builds for his next release. ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ is a spiritual sequel to his beloved 2007 film ‘Taare Zameen Par’ and marks a return to heartfelt storytelling blended with sports and comedy.
Directed by RS Prasanna, the film features Aamir Khan as a basketball coach tasked with training a team of differently abled children.
The cast includes Genelia D’Souza and ten debutant actors: Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar.
The film, a remake of the Spanish hit ‘Campeones’, is set to release in cinemas on June 20.
