Aamir Khan Breaks Silence After AI-Generated Guru Nanak Teaser Sparks Outrage
An AI-generated teaser featuring Aamir Khan as Guru Nanak sparked controversy online, prompting the actor’s spokesperson to issue a statement.
In today's digital age, where AI-generated content and fake news spread faster than ever, even the biggest celebrities aren't spared from misinformation. The latest victim of such an incident is Aamir Khan, who recently found himself at the centre of a controversy over a fake biopic teaser. On April 25, a YouTube channel — with no verified connection to any production house — uploaded a so-called teaser for a Guru Nanak biopic, claiming Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor would star in it. Eagle-eyed viewers quickly pointed out that the teaser looked heavily AI-generated, and the channel itself was unofficial.
Despite this, the video spread rapidly across social media, creating confusion and receiving backlash. Now, Aamir Khan has officially responded, firmly denying any involvement and calling out the teaser as completely fabricated.
An official statement from the actor’s spokesperson stated, “The poster showing Aamir Khan as Guru Nanak is completely fake and AI generated. Aamir Khan has no connection to any such project. He holds the highest respect for Guru Nanak and would never be part of anything disrespectful. Please don't fall for fake news.”
The fake teaser, created using AI technology, portrayed Aamir Khan in the attire of the revered Sikh spiritual leader. It also falsely claimed that the film was produced by T-Series, even though the YouTube channel posting it had no verified association with the company. Despite its dubious origin, the teaser quickly spread across social media platforms.
The controversy escalated further when a BJP leader from Punjab, Pritpal Singh Baliawal, accused the video of being a deliberate attempt to provoke the Sikh community by depicting a Muslim actor as Guru Nanak. As reported by Dainik Bhaskar, Pritpal Singh Baliawal lodged a complaint with the SGPC (Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee) and urged the Punjab Police, Cyber Cell, and security agencies to trace the creators’ IP addresses and take swift action.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Aamir Khan was last seen in the 2022 film ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ — the official Hindi adaptation of ‘Forrest Gump’. The Hindi remake also starred Kareena Kapoor Khan. Unfortunately, the film underperformed at the box office.
However, Aamir Khan is now gearing up for his next release, ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’, touted as a spiritual successor to his 2008 hit ‘Taare Zameen Par’. The new film, also featuring Genelia D'Souza, is expected to hit theatres later this year, although an exact release date is yet to be announced.
