“Shaadi Mein Main…”: Aamir Khan Says He’s Seen More Success In Divorce Than Marriage
Aamir Khan has previously been married twice – first to Reena Dutta and later to Kiran Rao – both of which eventually ended in divorce.
In the world of showbiz, where public personas often overshadow private struggles, few celebrities choose to confront their personal realities with candour. Aamir Khan, one of Bollywood’s most celebrated actors, has recently done just that. While promoting his upcoming film ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’, the Bollywood superstar opened up in a candid interview about the complexities of his personal life, especially his journey through marriage and divorce. Known for his introspective nature, Aamir didn’t shy away from admitting that while his marriages may not have worked out, he believes he has handled his divorces with maturity and grace.
In a recent conversation with Zoom, Aamir Khan said, “Humare parivar ke liye bhi ye ek cheez hain jisse hum khush nahi hain. Hum khushi-khushi ye cheez nahi kar rahe hain. Lekin kuch circumstances aise aayein jisme humein lagta hain ki shayad humara rishta badal gaya hain. Toh meri thinking ye hain ki yaa toh main duniya ko jhooth bol sakta hoon aur pretend kar sakta hoon ki Kiran [Rao] aur main bohot khush hain aur hum log shaadi-shuda hain.”
He then remarked humorously, “Shaadi mein main kamyab nahi hua hun, lekin divorce me main hua hun.”
For the unversed, Aamir Khan was previously married to Reena Dutta and later to Kiran Rao. He shares two children with Reena Dutta: Ira Khan and Junaid Khan. Kiran Rao and Aamir Khan share son Azad Rao Khan.
On his 60th birthday in March 2025, the Bollywood superstar publicly introduced his current girlfriend, Gauri Spratt, at a media event in Mumbai. Since then, the couple has made several public appearances together.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Aamir Khan's next film ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ is set to release on June 20. The comedy drama serves as a spiritual sequel to his critically acclaimed 2007 film ‘Taare Zameen Par’. Directed by RS Prasanna, known for ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’, the film also stars Genelia D'Souza.
‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ is an adaptation of the Spanish film ‘Campeones’, and centres around a basketball coach who ends up training a team of differently abled children for a competitive tournament.
