“Was In No State”: Aamir Khan Skips ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ Re-Release Screening Due To Pahalgam Terror Attack
Aamir Khan didn’t attend a special screening of his 1994 film ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ in Mumbai due to the recent Pahalgam terror attack.
The iconic comedy ‘Andaz Apna Apna’, featuring Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Raveena Tandon, Karisma Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, and Shakti Kapoor, has officially returned to theatres today, much to the delight of fans. Regarded as a cult classic, the Rajkumar Santoshi directorial is expected to draw big crowds over the weekend. However, Aamir Khan gave the special screening in Mumbai a miss. In a conversation with Subhash K Jha, Aamir revealed he wasn’t in the right frame of mind to attend, deeply disturbed by the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir.
For the unversed, 26 tourists were killed in Pahalgam, a popular tourist destination in Kashmir. Armed terrorists targeted them.
“I was reading reports about what happened at Pahalgam in Kashmir. I have been badly affected by the senseless killing of innocents. I was in no state to go (to the preview). I will see it sometime later this week,” Aamir Khan said.
Earlier, the film fraternity also expressed solidarity with the victims as all film events were cancelled in the country.
Several Bollywood celebrities such as Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, and Vicky Kaushal, among others, have also condemned the heinous act.
The nation is in shock after a devastating terror attack rocked the serene region of Pahalgam in Kashmir on Tuesday. In a brutal incident, terrorists opened fire at a popular meadow, leaving 26 people dead in what is being called the deadliest attack in the region since the 2019 Pulwama attack.
For the unversed, the incident took place around 3 pm on Tuesday. According to several reports, the terrorists rushed down from the mountain in Baisaran valley to start firing at tourists who visit the place, which is often dubbed as 'mini Switzerland'.
Following this attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also cut short his visit to Saudi Arabia and decided to return to India.
Talking about 'Andaz Apna Apna', the film released in 1994. It tanked at the box office upon its release. But over the years, the film has become a cult classic, and it is viewed as one of the most celebrated comedies in Indian film history.
