Ajay Devgn’s ‘Maidaan’ To Release On Eid 2024, Set To Clash With Akshay Kumar’s ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’
Ajay Devgn’s ‘Maidaan’ is all set to clash with Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff’s ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’.
From ‘Gadar 2’ vs ‘OMG 2’ to ‘Animal’ vs ‘Sam Bahadur’, and ‘Dunki’ vs ‘Salaar’, 2023 was the year of big box office clashes. And looks like we will witness many more in 2024. The first among many is coming on the occasion of Eid 2024. Film producer Boney Kapoor has confirmed that his upcoming sports drama ‘Maidaan’, starring Ajay Devgn in the lead role, will be releasing in theatres on Eid 2024. With this development, ‘Maidaan’ has setup a blockbuster box office clash with Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff's ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’.
For the unversed, Jr NTR, Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor's ‘Devara’ is releasing a week prior to ‘Maidaan’ and ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’. Boney Kapoor confirmed the release date of ‘Maidaan’ in a text message to news agency PTI.
Indian film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh also confirmed the release date of ‘Maidaan’ on his social media accounts.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Taran Adarsh wrote, “AJAY DEVGN: 'MAIDAAN' TO ARRIVE THIS EID... #Maidaan - starring #AjayDevgn - gets a new release date: April 2024 #Eid... Directed by Amit Sharma.”

‘Maidaan’ has been directed by Amit Sharma, who had earlier helmed Ayushmann Khurrana and Neena Gupta-starrer ‘Badhaai Ho’.
The upcoming sports drama has been delayed multiple times due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The film is based on the golden years of Indian football, and it deals with the true story of Syed Abdul Rahim (played by Ajay Devgn), who served as a coach and manager of the Indian football team from 1950 until he died in 1963.
Apart from Ajay Devgn, the film also stars Priyamani, Gajraj Rao, and Rudranil Ghosh.
Talking about ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’, the film has been directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and stars Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Manushi Chhillar, Sonakshi Sinha and Alaya F. The teaser of the film will be released on January 24, 2024.
Speaking of ‘Devara’, the film stars Jr NTR, Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan. The first glimpse from the film was unveiled earlier this month.
Apart from ‘Maidaan’, Ajay Devgn will also be seen in ‘Shaitaan’, alongside Jyothika and R Madhavan. The film is slated to release in theatres on March 8, 2024.
