Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina’s ‘Jigra’, directed by Vasan Bala, has got a new release date.

Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt, who made her acting debut at a young age in the 2012 movie ‘Student of the Year’, has showcased her impeccable acting chops in films like ‘Highway’, ‘Udta Punjab’, ‘Raazi’, ‘Gully Boy’, ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ and ‘Darlings’. Apart from her infectious screen presence, Alia Bhatt is also known for her chic and stylish fashion sense. Alia Bhatt was last seen opposite Ranveer Singh in Karan Johar’s 2023 directorial venture, ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’. Since then, fans have been eagerly waiting to see Alia Bhatt on the silver screen.

Alia Bhatt’s upcoming film ‘Jigra’ was supposed to release in theatres this September. However, the film has been postponed and it has got a new release date. Taking to Instagram, Alia Bhatt made the announcement regarding the film’s new release date as she wrote, “11.10.2024 | JIGRA | See you at the movies.” Alia Bhatt’s IG post also featured the film’s poster.

Taking to Instagram, the film’s producer Karan Johar also shared the new release date and wrote, “Courage comes to play when one of your own is at risk. Starring Alia Bhatt & Vedang Raina - #Jigra arrives in cinemas on 11th October, 2024.”

‘Jigra’ marks the first collaboration between Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina, who made his acting debut with Zoya Akhtar’s ‘The Archies’, which premiered on Netflix last year.

The upcoming Hindi movie is being directed by Vasan Bala, who has earlier helmed projects like 'Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota', and 'Monica, O My Darling'. Both these movies received critical acclaim.

Last year, the film’s announcement video was shared online by the makers. The announcement video kicked off with a quote by GK Chesterton, which read, "The paradox of courage is that one must be a little careless of life to keep it."

In the video, Alia Bhatt's voice was heard as she said, "Dekh. Dekh mujhe. Meri Rakhi pehenta hai na tu, to mere protection mai hai. Tujhe mai kuch bhi hone nahi dungi, kabhi bhi."

Then the title card read, "Alia Bhatt in Jigra." The video then showed Alia Bhatt standing with a bag on her shoulder.

'Jigra' is being produced by Alia Bhatt, Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Alia Bhatt and Somen Mishra.

Apart from ‘Jigra’, Alia Bhatt will also feature in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Love and War’. The film will also star Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.

She also has Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Jee Le Zaraa’ in the pipeline. The upcoming movie will also star Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Katrina Kaif.
