Amitabh Bachchan hit back at trolls on X.

Public figures live under constant scrutiny, especially online – but some know exactly how to handle it. Amitabh Bachchan, one of Indian cinema’s most revered legends, is not only known for his towering presence on screen but also for the way he carries himself on social media: calm, witty, and always dignified. Late Monday night, while engaging with fans on X (formerly Twitter), Big B posted a cryptic message: “T 5405 - Gadgets break .. Longevity lasts.”

This post drew a snarky reply from a user who mocked his late-night activity, writing, “Samay se so jaaya karo, varna lambi umar bhi nahi tikegi.” In response, Amitabh Bachchan replied with grace and wit, “Mere maran ki baat karne ke liye dhanyawad; Ishwar ki kripa.”

Another troll took a swipe using lyrics from his iconic film ‘Shahenshah’, saying, “Andheri raaton mein Shaehshah kyun jaag rahe ho, so jaaiye ab umar ho gayi aapki.”

To which Amitabh Bachchan calmly responded, “Ek din tumhari bhi umar ho jaayegi, ishwar ne chaaha.”

This isn’t the first time that Amitabh Bachchan has addressed unsolicited advice or criticism. Back in May, he posted a blog entry highlighting the constant stream of opinions he receives: “And they tell me to change my signature .. to not put dots in it .. to not put curved lines .. to wear this, to wear that .. to not visit here or there .. to not talk here, to not talk there .. when you talk they say why do you talk .. when you do not talk they say why you do not talk.”

Meanwhile, on the work front, the veteran actor was last seen in ‘Vettaiyan’ (2024), a Tamil action drama headlined by Rajinikanth and directed by TJ Gnanavel. Despite a star-studded cast that included Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, and others, the film underperformed at the box office and didn’t recover its budget.

Looking ahead, Amitabh Bachchan remains busy. He’s slated to appear in the sequel to Nag Ashwin's ‘Kalki 2898 AD’. His portrayal of Ashwatthama in ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ earned significant praise, and the sequel is set to begin filming in December.

Big B also has ‘Section 84’ and ‘Brahmastra Part 2: Dev’ in the pipeline. He’s also expected to return to host another season of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ on Sony TV later this year.
