Cinema Lovers Day: Not All Tickets Priced At Rs 99, Here's All You Need To Know
Cinema Lovers Day comes as a big respite for movie buffs! Here's all you need to know about the ticket pricing.
Cinephiles and movie buffs, rejoice! The Multiplex Association of India (MAI) has announced that theatres across the country will be offering significant discounts on movie tickets on May 31, to celebrate Cinema Lovers Day. For the unversed, multiplexes and single screens are both participating in this initiative, under which the tickets will be priced at Rs 99 over more than 4,000 screens nationwide.
However, we have to warn you that not all tickets are priced at Rs 99. We tried to book recliner seats at some of the premium theatres in Delhi, and we can now report that recliner seats have been prized at Rs 199 on the occasion of Cinema Lovers Day.
Tickets at PVR Director`s Cut, Ambience Mall are prized at Rs 499 for both PLAT Superior and Platinum. It is important to mention that ticket prices have been lowered significantly. Normally, tickets at PVR Director`s Cut, Ambience Mall are prized at almost Rs 1,500.
We just had to let you know that Cinema Lovers Day is being advertised based on Rs 99, but it is important to know about the pricing for recliner seats as well.
The move to come up with Cinema Lovers Day comes after a sluggish first quarter for the film business in India. So far, not many Hindi films have been able to achieve the hit status in the country.
The ongoing Lok Sabha Elections have also dampened ticket sales, making it worse for the entertainment industry.
"It is a widespread initiative with a total of 4,000 screens where movie tickets will be available for ₹ 99 each. However, premium formats like recliners are excluded but 90-95 per cent of seats will be available for ₹99," Kamal Gianchandani, head of the Multiplex Association of India (MAI) and CEO of PVR Inox Pictures said in a statement.
“A lot of single screens will be participating, including those in the South. Many single screens will offer tickets for prices lower than ₹ 99, which could go to as low as ₹70,” the statement read.
On Cinema Lovers Day, you can watch films like 'Mr & Mrs Mahi (Janhvi Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao), 'Srikanth' (Rajkummar Rao), and Furiosa (Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth).
