Filmmaker Farhan Akhtar and actor Ranveer Singh continue being trolled on social media ever since they confirmed 'Don 3'. Fans are not pleased with the 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani' actor stepping into the shoes of Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. In the latest entertainment news, filmmaker Farhan Akhtar has addressed the criticism surrounding the casting of Ranveer Singh, and he assured fans that the actor will do a "great job" while playing 'Don'.

"Ranveer is amazing. He’s great for the part. He’s also, as you can imagine, really excited and really nervous, about the thing you’re filling some big shoes before you. But we went through the same emotional process when Shah Rukh did it and everyone was like ‘Oh my God, how can you replace Mr. Bachchan?.’That whole thing happened then," Farhan Akhtar told BBC Asian Network.

“It really is about an actor coming in and owning the part and making it really like, giving it their style and their flair. And he has that, he has that in spades. So, he is going to do a great job. I think the responsibility is more mine now to make sure that the script and the film work out the way I imagine," he added.

Farhan Akhtar has also confirmed that he will start shooting 'Don 3' in 2025 as he is still in the process of finalising the cast.

When he was asked why he announced the film so soon, he said that he wanted the audience to know that Ranveer Singh will be new 'Don'.

It is unclear as of now that whether Farhan Akhtar will be going ahead with his previously announced project 'Jee Le Zara' or not.

For the unversed, Farhan Akhtar and producer Ritesh Sidhwani had bought the rights of the original 'Don', which had released in 1978 starring Amitabh Bachchan.

The movie was remade in 2006 with Shah Rukh and Priyanka Chopra Jonas in the lead roles.

'Don 2' had released in 2011, which had SRK and Priyanka reprising their roles.
