Gurugram Police Refutes Badshah's Claims Of Not Being Challaned For Driving On Wrong Side Of Road
Gurugram Traffic Police recently issued a challan after Badshah was found driving Thar on the wrong side of the road.
The Karan Aujla concert in Gurugram on December 16 is making headlines for all the wrong reasons. No one really knows whether rapper Badshah was challaned or not. For the unversed, there are reports that Badshah was issued a challan after he was spotted driving his vehicle on the wrong side of the road. However, Gurugram Police continues to maintain that he was in the "convoy" that was challaned for flouting traffic rules.
“The convoy had three cars including a Thar, a Scorpio and a Mercedes. We have sent a challan of ₹15,500 to the owner of Thar, since the RC of the vehicle since it didn’t have the Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate either. The other two cars had temporary numbers and we are still in search of their owners, to challan their owner,” Virender Vij, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Gurugram told Hindustan Times.
Earlier, Badshah had denied the claims, of him being issued a challan for driving the car on the wrong side of the road.
Taking to Instagram Stories, Badshah wrote, “Bhai, Thar toh hai bhi nai mere pass, na mai drive kar raha tha us din. I was being driven in a white Vellfire, and we always drive responsibly.” He shared the note with Manna Dey’s song, ‘Ae Bhai Zara Dekh Ke Chalo’, from the cult classic ‘Mera Naam Joker’.
As per several reports, Badshah was issued a challan of Rs 15,000 after a Mahindra Thar carrying the rapper was seen on the wrong side of the road.
The same reports also claimed that Badshah was driving a Mahindra Thar as a part of the convoy of three vehicles that took an illegal route.
“The Thar was registered in the name of a person, Dipender Hooda of Panipat, and he was driving it. The overall online fine imposed against Hooda was ₹15,500 under three sections of the Motor Vehicle Act, including dangerous driving and wrong-side driving,” Vij said.
Earlier, Badshah's team had also issued a statement to dismiss the claims, saying, “We are issuing this statement to address recent defamatory reports and false accusations regarding a traffic incident involving Badshah following the Karan Aujla concert on December 15th, 2024, in the Delhi NCR region. These reports allege that Badshah was involved in a traffic violation, specifically driving on the wrong side of the road. We want to unequivocally state that this allegation is completely false.”
“On the night of the concert, Badshah was a passenger in a white Toyota Vellfire (Registration Number HR 55 AU 3333), a vehicle provided by Bakshi Transport Service Private Limited and driven by a licensed professional driver. Our transportation arrangements for the entirety of the event included a Toyota Vellfire and three additional Toyota Innova Crystas to ensure the safe and efficient transport of our team. Badshah was not operating any of the above-mentioned vehicles at any point during the alleged incident,” the statement added.
