How 'Fighter' Director Reacted To Pakistani Actresses Criticising Film's Trailer For Spreading Hate
Some Pakistani actresses are not happy with the 'Fighter' trailer. However, fans are calling out the double-standards.
Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone and Anil Kapoor-starrer 'Fighter' might be one of the most-anticipated movies in India, but the trailer of the upcoming Hindi film has sparked outrage across the border in Pakistan. Some Pakistani actresses and fans are not happy with what they saw in the 'Fighter' trailer and they alleged that the movie has an anti-Pakistan tone. Dialogues like "India Occupied Pakistan" have also sparked massive outrage in Pakistan. For the unversed, 'Fighter' is based on the 2019 Pulwama attack and how India reacted in the aftermath of the incident.
Pakistani actresses like Hania Aamir, Adnan Siddiqui and Zara Noor Abbas took to social media to express their anger and disappointment with the film's trailer.
"So sad and unfortunate to know that there are artists out there in this day and age who are aware of the power that the cinema holds and still go ahead and feed the riff between the two countries. I feel sorry for the artists who try to bridge the gap by trusting their art as a medium," Hania Aamir wrote on Instagram Stories.
This comment did not sit well with the fans and one user highlighted how Hania Aamir herself starred in a film where he Pakistan Air Force fought against India.
'Fighter' director Siddharth anand replied to the user, saying, "Oh". He also responded with a thinking face emoji on Hania Aamir's thread.
Oh !!

Several users on the internet are also questioning why Pakistani artists care about such issues when Indian stars are not at all bothered about the similar themes in Pakistani films.
Zara Noor Abbas had also shared a video in which she called out the trailer of 'Fighter'.
“It’s so funny to see Hrithik Roshan say that (India owns Kashmir) and Pakistan has occupied Kashmir. Would anyone like to ask Kashmiris about who they serve? Because they serve no one. Kashmiris deserve an independent state, full stop. India needs to move past its entitlement of making Kashmiris slaves. That narrative is too old," she said.
The actress also called out the makers for copying 'Top Gun' starring Tom Cruise.
Directed by Siddharth Anand of ‘War’ and ‘Pathaan’ fame, ‘Fighter’ is being touted as India's first aerial action film. The movie will be releasing in theatres on January 25, 2024.
