Jaya Bachchan calls out paparazzi after they hound her at a prayer meet.

Veteran Indian actress Jaya Bachchan, who recently marked 52 years of marriage with Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, once again found herself in a familiar spot – visibly miffed with the paparazzi. Jaya Bachchan, known for not mincing words when it comes to media conduct, had another run-in with photographers, this time after attending a prayer meet. The incident took place as Jaya stepped out of the venue with her daughter Shweta Bachchan Nanda. The path leading to their car was crowded with paparazzi, making it difficult to walk.

While Shweta moved ahead silently, Jaya Bachchan paused and took a moment to express her displeasure. With a hint of sarcasm and clear irritation, she said, “Chaliye aap log bhi saath mein, Aajaiye,” echoing a remark previously made by Saif Ali Khan. However, unlike Saif’s lighter tone, Jaya’s comment felt far more serious.

The comment made the photographers slightly uncomfortable, prompting them to take a step back. A few awkward smiles were exchanged, but Jaya didn’t linger. She muttered something under her breath, quickly caught up with Shweta, and both got into their car without further interaction.

The mother-daughter duo was attending a prayer meet held in memory of filmmaker Rono Mukherjee, who had passed away recently due to cardiac arrest. Rono was the elder brother of Deb Mukherjee and a respected figure in the film fraternity. He was also the uncle of Rani Mukerji, Kajol, Ayan Mukerji, and Tanishaa Mukerji.

Rono also held the post of President of the North Bombay Durga Puja and was known for directing films like ‘Haiwan’ (1977) and ‘Tu Hi Meri Zindagi’ (1965). His brother Deb Mukherjee, who was Ayan’s father, had also passed away earlier this year after a prolonged illness.

Jaya Bachchan’s frequent confrontations with the paparazzi have sparked numerous online conversations over the years. One such controversy unfolded when actress Moushumi Chatterjee took a dig at her, posing for photographers and quipping, “Don’t call me Jaya Bachchan; I am a better person.” While Moushumi later acknowledged that paps can be intrusive at times, she stood by her statement.

Jaya’s stern approach to media interactions has often made headlines. At Hema Malini’s birthday bash in 2023, she had firmly asked photographers not to keep instructing her, saying, “Abhi aap log itna direction mat dijiye.” Similarly, at her grandson Agastya’s debut film ‘The Archies’ premiere, she requested them not to shout while she posed with Tina Ambani.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Jaya was last seen in Karan Johar’s ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’, where she played a commanding family matriarch. The movie also Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Dharmendra, and Shabana Azmi, among others.
