Kangana Ranaut has slammed Jaya Bachchan.

Samajwadi Party MP and veteran actress Jaya Bachchan made headlines on Tuesday after a heated public exchange at Delhi’s Constitution Club. The episode, captured on video, showed Jaya reacting sharply when a man tried to take a selfie with her without permission. In the clip, she can be seen turning towards the man, visibly irritated, before physically pushing him away. She then reprimanded him, saying, “Kya kar rahe hai aap? What is this?” Her firm tone instantly drew attention, with many noting her no-nonsense attitude in public spaces.

The incident prompted a swift and pointed reaction from Bollywood actress and BJP MP from Mandi, Kangana Ranaut. Taking to her Instagram Stories, Kangana shared the viral clip and didn’t hold back her words. She labelled Jaya as the “most spoilt and privileged woman” and accused people of tolerating her “tantrums” only because she is married to legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan.

Kangana further mocked Jaya’s trademark Samajwadi Party cap, comparing it to a rooster’s comb, and went on to liken her demeanour to that of a “fighting cock,” concluding with the words, “Such disgrace and shame.”

In the video, after Jaya pushed the man, he appeared startled and quickly stepped aside, avoiding further confrontation. Standing nearby during the incident was Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and fellow parliamentarian Priyanka Chaturvedi, who witnessed the exchange.

This clash between Kangana and Jaya Bachchan added another chapter to their history of public disagreements. In 2020, Jaya had condemned derogatory remarks about the film industry, including Kangana’s statement likening it to a “gutter.”

Kangana retaliated on X (formerly Twitter) with a post, questioning whether Jaya would have shown the same defence if her daughter Shweta Bachchan had faced abuse or if her son Abhishek Bachchan had endured sustained bullying and harassment leading to tragedy.

“Jaya ji would you say the same thing if in my place it was your daughter Shweta beaten, drugged and molested as a teenage, would you say the same thing if Abhishek complained about bullying and harassment constantly and found hanging one day? Show compassion for us also,” Kangana’s tweet read.

Interestingly, Kangana’s opinion of Jaya Bachchan wasn’t always critical. In an interview with News18 last year, she described Jaya as “one of the most dignified women in the film industry,” praising her composure and eloquence in the Rajya Sabha. Kangana said such representation from the film fraternity made her feel proud.

Meanwhile, on the film front, Jaya Bachchan was last seen in Karan Johar’s 2023 blockbuster ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’, where she played a pivotal role alongside an ensemble cast.

Kangana Ranaut, meanwhile, was last seen in ‘Emergency’, her ambitious political drama chronicling the life of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. She also directed the project along with starring in it.
