Watch: Priyamani Reveals How SRK Took Care Of ‘Jawan’ Co-Stars After Late Night Party
Priyamani, who recently featured in Maidaan’, recalled a sweet anecdote from the time she worked with Shah Rukh Khan for ‘Jawan’.
Indian actress Priyamani, who primarily works in Telugu, Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam films, has appeared in a few Hindi movies as well. Priyamani, who was last seen alongside Yami Gautam in the 2024 movie ‘Article 370’, recently featured in ‘Maidaan’. The new Hindi movie, co-starring Ajay Devgn, released on Eid 2024 and clashed with Akshay Kumar’s ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ at the box office. Amid the release of ‘Maidaan’, Priyamani has been actively promoting the film by appearing for interviews. Recently, she recalled a sweet anecdote from the time she worked with Shah Rukh Khan for ‘Jawan’.
Atlee’s 2023 directorial ‘Jawan’, which also starred Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, became the highest grossing Hindi movie of all time. It also went on to become the biggest hit of SRK’s career.
In a new interview, Priyamani hailed her ‘Jawan’ co-star Shah Rukh Khan for being kind and considerate towards his co-stars.
Speaking to Galatta Plus, Priyamani recalled how the crew was celebrating Atlee's birthday in Chennai until 4 am. When it was time for the women to leave for their hotel, Shah Rukh Khan made sure they were safe. A video of this bit from the interaction is now going viral on X (formerly Twitter).

“It was Atlee sir’s birthday in Chennai, so all of us were there for the birthday party. So, I think this was at about 3 or 4 in the morning. We girls were going back to the hotel. He came and saw us off individually. He came to the car. And he actually had a car of bodyguards follow us up till the hotel because there was a good distance of about 45 minutes to about an hour. So he made the car follow us. We said, ‘You can go.’ They said, ‘No, these are special instructions given by Sir. We have to see you off',” she said.
Priyamani played the role of Lakshmi, a member of Azad’s (Shah Rukh Khan) all-girl squad. Shah Rukh had double roles in the Atlee directorial, which featured Deepika Padukone in a special appearance.
The 2023 film was a massive hit and went on to collect more than Rs 1100 crore at the worldwide box office.
Coming back to Priyamani, she starred in ‘Article 370’ with Yami Gautam. The movie was released in cinemas on February 23, 2024.
She can be currently seen in ‘Maidaan’ as Ajay Devgn's wife. The film, which revolves around Indian football legend Syed Abdul Rahim (played by Ajay Devgn), is directed by Amit Sharma of ‘Badhaai Ho’ fame.
The new Hindi movie made Rs 1.50 crore on Monday, the fifth day of its release. The total five-day nett domestic collection now stands at Rs 23.50 crore.
