Not Kareena And Shahid, Imtiaz Ali Wanted To Cast THIS Pair For 'Jab We Met'
Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor were not the first choice for Imtiaz Ali's 'Jab We Met'.
'Jab We Met' is one of the finest movies of both Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor's careers. It is hard to image anyone else apart from these two playing the roles of Geet and Aditya, respectively. However, in the latest Bollywood celebrity news, director Imtiaz Ali has revealed that Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor were not the first choice for 'Jab We Met'. During an interview with Galatta India, Imtiaz Ali revealed that 'Jab We Met' was the "most rejected film" of his life. He then said that he was trying to make the film with Bobby Deol initially.
"He is one of the best friends I will ever have. So, I was trying to make it with him. But it never got made to the extent that many years passed... Bobby was doing some other work, so I thought let it be, let's not make this film together. We shook hands on that," Imtiaz Ali said.
"I had also gone to Preity Zinta. Jab We Met was the most rejected film of my life. It was being rejected everywhere. It was when I narrated the film to Preity Zinta in her house, that she laughed," he added.
Speaking further about it, Imtiaz Ali said, "I thought she is laughing at me, mocking me! But she said it was really funny. So, I continued narrating. That was the first time somebody had complimented the film. So I owe it to her and whenever I meet her I give her a special hug and thank her that, you were the first person, who told me this film is ok. So Bobby and Preity Zinta is the pairing I wanted but it didn't happen."
For the uninitiated, 'Jab We Met' tells the story of Geet and Aditya, who end up becoming friends during a train journey.
They end up travelling together, and during the journey, they end up discovering their true selves. During the way, they also end up falling in love with each other.
'Jab We Met' was re-released in theatres in February 2024 during the Valentine's Week.
On the work front, Imtiaz Ali's 'Amar Singh Chamkila' recently released on Netflix. The movie, starring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra received glowing reviews from all corners.
Talking about Shahid Kapoor, he was last seen alongside Kriti Sanon in 'Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya'. On the other hand, Kareena Kapoor was last seen in 'Crew', alongside Kriti Sanon and Tabu.
