According to a media report, 'OMG 2', which is slated to release in the theatres on August 11, has got an ‘A’ certificate.

'OMG 2', starring Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Yami Gautam, is one of the most-anticipated projects of 2023, and as of now, the film is slated to release in theatres on August 11. However, the month of August is already here, and the makers are yet to release the trailer of the film. For the uninitiated, 'OMG 2' has been making headlines ever since it ran into trouble with the Censor Board.

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had earlier not given a censor certificate to the film, and the fate of the Akshay Kumar-starrer was left hanging in the air. However, as per a report in The Indian Express, 'OMG 2' has now gotten an 'A' certificate.

The report states that the CBFC has not suggested any cuts in the film, however, they have recommended more than 25 modifications.

'OMG 2' is a story about a character named Kanti Sharan Mudgal, played by Pankaj Tripathi, and how he is a staunch devotee of Lord Shiva. It is then that during a critical moment, his god ends up showing before him, and helps him in resolving a major challenge.

The teaser of 'OMG 2' was released in July 2023 and it showed Akshay Kumar to be playing the role of Lord Shiva.

Earlier, Ujjain’s Mahakaleshwar temple had demanded the deletion of the 'OMG 2' scenes filmed at the shrine.

Mahesh Sharma, a priest of the Mahakaleshwar temple, was quoted as saying by news agency ANI: “The censor board has given ‘A’ certificate to the film Oh My God 2. This certification is reserved for films that have adult content. We demand that some scenes, which were filmed at the Mahakal temple, be removed as they might offend the religious sentiments of viewers. If our demand isn’t met, we will launch protests across the country.”

'OMG 2' is a sequel to Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal's 2012 film 'OMG - Oh My God'.

Earlier, the censor board was heavily criticised for passing Om Raut's 'Adipurush'. The movie starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan received backlash for the dialogues and VFX. Dialogue writer Manoj Muntashir had to issue an 'unconditional' apology following the backlash.
