“Having A Problem Because I Didn’t Offer Them?”: Paresh Rawal Reacts To Trolling Over Urine-Drinking Revelation
Paresh Rawal has broken his silence on the trolling sparked by his urine-drinking revelation.
Veteran actor Paresh Rawal recently found himself at the centre of an unexpected controversy after revealing that he drank his own urine to recover from a fractured leg. The revelation – shared during an earlier interview – sparked a flurry of reactions online, with many social media users trolling the veteran actor and labelling his actions “dangerous.” Now, Paresh Rawal has responded to the backlash with his trademark wit and clarity.
In a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Paresh Rawal questioned the outrage, joking, “I haven’t offered them (urine), right? Or are they having a problem because I didn’t offer them? Are they feeling, ‘Yaar yeh akele pee gaye aur humko nahin diya?!'”
He further explained that the incident happened 40 years ago, saying, “It’s an incident of my life which took place 40 years ago. Woh maine bol diya. Usme kya ho gaya? People enjoy making a mountain out of a molehill. Karne do unko mazaa!”
Paresh Rawal also added that many people have reached out to him since his statement, though he declined to elaborate. He shared, “A lot of people have, but I don’t want to get into it.”
In the same interview, the actor also clarified recent comments about his professional equation with Akshay Kumar. He explained that while they aren’t close friends, they share mutual respect as colleagues.
He shared, “I simply said that he’s a colleague. When you say ‘friend’, it means those whom you meet 5-6 times a month and whom you talk to several times a week. Moreover, neither Akshay nor I are social. So, there’s no question of us bumping into each other at any party. Hence, I called him a colleague. And this resulted in (speculations). People are asking, ‘Kya ho gaya (aap dono ke beech)?’ Arre bhai, kuch nahin hua.”
Paresh Rawal originally revealed this personal health anecdote in an interview with The Lallantop, where he said that late action director Veeru Devgan had advised him to drink his own urine as a remedy when he was admitted to Mumbai’s Nanavati Hospital with a leg injury. Along with the unconventional advice, Veeru Devgan had also told him to avoid alcohol, red meat, and smoking during recovery.
He had said, “Veeru Devgan had come to visit when I was in Nanavati (hospital). When he got to know I was there, he came up to me and asked what happened to me? I told him about my leg injury. He told me to drink my own urine first thing in the morning,”
“I had decided if I had to drink my own urine, I’ll not have it at one go; I’ll sip it like beer. Because I want to do it properly. I did this for 15 days. Fifteen days later, when the doctor took my x-ray, he was shocked. The doctor asked me, ‘How did this cementing happen?’ He could see a white line forming. I was supposed to be discharged in 2-2.5 months, but I was discharged in 1.5 months. It was like magic,” Paresh Rawal added.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Paresh Rawal has several projects in the pipeline including ‘Hera Pheri 3’, ‘Bhooth Bangla’, ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ and ‘Thama’.
