“Embarrassing”: Priyanka Chopra Mercilessly Trolled For Saying She Hasn’t Watched ‘RRR’ Despite Hosting Its Screening
Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who previously called ‘RRR’ a Tamil movie, is now getting trolled for admitting that she hasn’t watched the film despite hosting its screening.
Ram Charan and Jr NTR-starrer ‘RRR’ had released last year and the movie is still making headlines. The film, directed by SS Rajamouli, won one Golden Globe Award and two Critics Choice Awards. It also created history after the song ‘Naatu Naatu’ won the Best Original Song award at the Oscars 2023. With a massive box office collection, it'd be safe to say that the majority of Indians have watched the movie either in theatres or on OTT. However, Priyanka Chopra Jonas is not on that list.
Interestingly, the global star had hosted a screening for ‘RRR’ in the US to celebrate its global success. Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who earlier came under fire for calling ‘RRR’ a “Tamil movie,” is now being trolled for not watching the movie.
During a segment on Vanity Fair, Priyanka Chopra Jonas was asked, “You starred opposite Ram Charan in his Hindi debut Zanjeer. Have you seen RRR?" To which, the actress replied, “No!"
Further elaborating her answer, Priyanka Chopra added, “I just didn’t get time. I don’t watch a lot of movies, but I watch a lot of TV shows." A Twitter handle shared a video of Priyanka Chopra admitting that she hasn’t watched ‘RRR’.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ answer didn’t sit well with netizens, who began trolling the actress on Reddit.
One user wrote, “Wait but didn’t she hold a screening? How is this physically possible?"
Another one added, “PC gained publicity from hosting the South Asian Excellence at the Oscars event, which occurred at Paramount Studios. It’s ironic that she gained publicity from hosting but did not watch RRR and could not even correctly recall the language of the film. Admitting to not watching the film is not a cute, funny, or relatable moment. It reads like she used the RRR success for clout without ever caring for the actual film. It reads as disingenuous."
“How do you host a screening of the movie and not watch it? No wonder she called it a Tamil movie," a third user commented.
Another one said, “Thats why she called it a tamil movie.”
“This quite embarassing, she was going all gaga about the movie at Oscars and this. No wonder actors sell products they never use,” another comment read.
Another social media user wrote, “Now this is embarrassing. She was so loud about the win and representation but lol.”
Earlier, in a podcast interview with Dax Shepard, Priyanka ended up calling the Telugu blockbuster a “Tamil movie". Priyanka tried to correct Dax Shepard’s goof-up, who called ‘RRR’ a Bollywood movie but ended up making a big gaffe herself.
Ahead of the Oscars this year, Priyanka Chopra hosted the annual South Asian Excellence pre-Oscars bash at Paramount Pictures Studios in Hollywood, which was attended by Ram Charan and his wife Upasana, and NTR Jr.
She also hosted Ram Charan and Upasana at her home in LA where the couple met her family.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Priyanka Chopra will be seen alongside Idris Elba and John Cena in ‘Heads Of State’.
She also has a Bollywood project in the pipeline. Priyanka Chopra will be starring alongside Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif in Farhan Akhtar's ‘Jee Le Zaraa’.
