Priyanka Chopra leaves Indian fans disappointed as she picks hot dog over vada pav.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas often makes headlines, but this time, it’s not her films or fashion turning heads – it’s her food choices. The 'Desi Girl', who’s been a global favourite for years, recently sparked a fiery debate online after a quick interaction on the red carpet of the ‘Heads of State’ premiere went viral. A light-hearted rapid-fire round about food ended up causing some serious desi heartburn when PeeCee’s picks didn’t quite align with what many Indian fans were expecting – or hoping – to hear.

In the now-viral clip from the premiere, Priyanka was asked to choose between popular food items. When faced with empanadas or samosas, she hesitated and said, “Depends on the mood.” Asked to pick between enchiladas and chicken tikka masala, she simply said “both.”

But what truly disappointed some of her Indian fans was her response to hot dogs versus vada pav. Without much pause, she admitted, “I love a vada pav, but hot dog is my weakness.”

The video was edited and shared by Instagram creator Pushpek Sidhu, known for critiquing American TikTokers.

Soon enough, the desi fans chimed in – some with outrage, others with humour, and a few with support.

One user wrote, “Take that Aadhar card away.”

Another one added, “Who chooses Hot dog over Vada pav… absolute blasphemy.”

A third user commented, “Even if I was not an Indian, I would pick samosa. I mean haveeee you met a samosa?!”

Another one said, “She’s not our “desi girl” anymore. She’s “pardesi girl” now.”

“I hope people getting offended by her food choices are the ones who only eat desi food and never choose eating fries over home made dal chawal,” a comment read.

One user also said, “Bruh y'all so funny in the comments. Just because she's an Indian doesn't mean she has to pick an Indian dish. Her tastes her choice. Tf you all so invested in other people's lives that you're getting offended for their food choices.”

Another fan commented, “Honestly mexican food is just amazing. Hits the right spots without the extra butter and spices. I mean why have only one when you can have both though?”

One user said, “Broo we don't consider her Indian. She has become Gori pakori horror story.”

Despite the unexpected uproar, Priyanka Chopra continues to shine on the professional front. Her latest film ‘Heads of State’, co-starring Idris Elba and John Cena, is streaming on Prime Video and has earned her praise for her role in the action-comedy.

Up next, she’s set to make her Indian comeback with director S.S. Rajamouli’s ‘SSMB29’ opposite Mahesh Babu. She also has international projects like ‘The Bluff’ and ‘Citadel Season 2’ lined up.

She is also expected to star alongside Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif in ‘Jee Le Zaraa’. The movie is set to be directed by Farhan Akhtar.
