Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Ramayana’ Gets Release Date, Epic Tale To Unfold In Two Parts
‘Ramayana’, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash, has finally got a release date. The epic saga will unfold in two parts.
The makers of ‘Ramayana’ have finally unveiled the release date. The movie, which will feature Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita and Yash as Raavan, will be releasing in two parts. The makers have also released the first official poster. Film's producer Namit Malhotra took to social media to announce the release date of the film. The first part of ‘Ramayana’ will release in cinemas on Diwali 2026, while the second part will hit theatres on Diwali 2027.
“More than a decade ago, I embarked on a noble quest to bring this epic that has ruled billions of hearts for over 5000 years to the big screen,” Namit Malhotra wrote on Instagram.
“And today, I am thrilled to see it taking shape beautifully as our teams work tirelessly with only one purpose: to present the most authentic, sacred, and visually stunning adaptation of our history, our truth, and our culture – our “RAMAYANA”– for people across the world,” he added.
Speaking further, Namit Malhotra said, “Join us as we fulfill our dream of bringing our greatest epic to life with pride and reverence… Part 1 in Diwali 2026 and Part 2 in Diwali 2027. From our entire Ramayana Family.”

The poster of the film or the post, doesn't mention any member of the film's cast. The poster just mentions the years of releases and the director's name -- Nitesh Tiwari.
Nitesh Tiwari, known for helming films like ‘Dangal’, ‘Chhichhore’ and ‘Bawaal’, also took to Instagram and shared a post, announcing the release date.
Earlier, pictures from the sets of ‘Ramayana’ had surfaced online, in which Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi were seen dressed as Lord Ram and Sita, respectively.
In other pictures, Arun Govil and Lara Dutta were also seen dressed in ethnic outfits. The duo is reportedly playing roles of Raja Dashrat and Rani Kaykay.
‘KGF’ star Yash had earlier confirmed that he is playing the role of Raavan in the epic.
Speaking to Hollywood Reporter India, Yash said, “It’s a very fascinating character. I wouldn’t have done it for any other reason. In Ramayana, if you had asked me, ‘Would you play any other character?’ Probably not. For me, Ravan is the most exciting character to play as an actor so I really like the shades and the nuances of particular character. There’s vast scope to present it in a very different way. As an actor, I am very excited. Hopefully, it’s going to be a very unique approach to it.”
As per reports, the shooting of the first part of the film is almost over. Yash is also co-producing the film.
