'Swatantrya Veer Savarkar' actor Randeep Hooda has thanked unknown individuals who were responsible for shooting Amir Sarfaraz, a key figure in Sarabjit Singh's murder in Lahore's Kot Lakhpat Jail in 2013. For the unversed, Amir Sarfaraz was reportedly assassinated in Lahore. It is important to mention that Randeep Hooda had played the role of Sarabjit in Omung Kumar-helmed biopic, 'Sarbjit' in 2016. The biopic also stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Richa Chadha and Darshan Kumar. Reacting to the news of Amir being shot, Randeep Hooda on X wrote, "KARMA. Thank you unknown men” with folded hands emoji.

"Remembring my sister Dalbir Kaur and sending love to Swapandeep Poonam, today some justice to martyr Sarabjit Singh has been served," he added.

For the unversed, Amir Sarfaraz was also known as Tamba, an underworld figure from Pakistan.

As per several reports, Amir is said to have been attacked by assailants riding motorcycles, at his Lahore residence.

For the uninitiated, Sarabjit Singh, who was a resident of Punjab, had crossed the border into Pakistan while working in his fields. He was then accused of being involved in bomb blasts in Pakistan’s Punjab province in 1990 and was sentenced to death.

Talking to news agency IANS, Randeep shared, “While doing the Sarabjit biopic it was always a very tragic feeling that when things were on the verge of working out to extradite him to India and get him back home to his family he was murdered in the jail."

“Hearing about his attacker being killed, I wonder what Dalbir ji (Sarabjit’s sister) would have felt. I’m sure it would have been a feeling of some justice served after she fought to get him for years on end," he added.

Sarabjit, who was sentenced to death by the Supreme Court of Pakistan in 1991, had spent two decades in prison for alleged terrorism and spying where he was eventually murdered.
